Faiza earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Guelph-Humber and holds a Master’s in Child Life and Paediatric Psychosocial Care from McMaster University. Since then, she has worked with diverse individuals in healthcare settings such as SickKids Hospital and the Michael Garron Paediatric Vaccine Clinic.
As a Child Life Specialist, Faiza supports infants, children, teens, and families by using a family-centered approach. She provides therapeutic play, procedural preparation, education to help reduce fear, anxiety, and pain and enhance emotional regulation. In the community, she teaches children anxiety-reduction strategies, offers parent coaching sessions, and facilitates infant massage workshops to promote attachment and bonding. Faiza also supports families through challenging experiences, including hospital visits, funerals, and grief counselling.
